This Crock Pot Sausage and Peppers is a dish you will make over and over again. It is so simple but loaded in flavor and absolutely delicious. The combination of spices and tomato sauce with the Italian Sausage really does make this dish incredible. Again.. it’s so simple!
Crock Pot Sausage and Peppers Ingredients Needed:
Italian Sausages
Green Bell Pepper
Yellow Bell Pepper
Tomato Sauce
Onion (we used a sweet onion)
Garlic Powder
Brown Sugar
Dried Oregano
Dried Basil
Salt
Hoagie Buns
Before anyone says anything.. yes you need the brown sugar. It adds a small level of sweetness that makes these sausages great. You don’t have to serve these on buns, they are just as good over rice. Super versatile. We like to use the Johnsonville Italian Sausages and they work well in this recipe but any will do.
Can I double this recipe? Does it freeze well?
You can easily double this recipe and then freeze the leftovers or have enough for a few meals. I like to eat this meal a few times in a row, it just that good. We made this in a 4 quart crock pot, if you do double the recipe you will need a larger one, a 6 quart crock pot should work just fine.
What do you serve this with?
Potato salad or macaroni salad is the perfect addition to this dish! My family is a huge potato salad fan so we often serve that with it and there is never any left. Just add some potato chips and you have a very simple but absolutely delicious meal. This dish would be wonderful for a larger gathering and I have never served it that people didn’t love it.

Crock Pot Sausage Peppers
This easy crock pot recipe with Italian sausage and peppers will quickly become a family favorite.
Servings: 4 servings
- 1 lb of Italian sausages (usually 6 to a package)
- 1 medium green pepper sliced
- 1 medium yellow pepper sliced
- 1 15 ounce can of tomato sauce
- 1 cup of sliced sweet onion
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Hoagie rolls
-
Place Italian sausages, peppers, and onions in the slow cooker.
-
Mix together all the seasonings and pour over the sausages, peppers, and onions.
-
Stir together to make sure everything is coated with sauce.
-
Cook on high heat for 3-4 hours or low for 6.
-
Serve on sub rolls for sandwiches or over pasta.
I set the serving size at 4 because there are 6 sausage links to a package and some people may have more than one. So you can really make up your own mind, according to your household on how many servings that would be.
